Automaker promotes seatbelt safety among Hispanic population  The Census Bureau reports that the Hispanic population in the U.S. increased by 43 percent between 2000 and 2010. The latest data reveals that there are approximately 50.5 million Hispanics in America, which accounts for about 16 percent of the nation's overall population.

As a result, an increasing number of Hispanic residents are applying for car loans in order to navigate America's roads. Many members of this demographic are eager to search for an affordable used car loan, but there are some U.S. driving customs that they may need to learn first.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Hispanic children are three times more likely to die in a vehicle accident than Caucasian children. In response to this trend, Toyota recently funded an event in California entitled Buckle Up For Life, which was co-hosted by Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

The initiative aims to educate Hispanic families about the importance of using seatbelts and car seats. Toyota officials reported that Buckle Up for Life originally launched in Cincinnati, and campaigns are currently being developed in cities across the U.S.
