Automobile insurance claims satisfaction declines from last year

The J.D. Power and Associates 2010 U.S. Auto Claims Satisfaction study was recently released and indicates a decrease in customer satisfaction with the automobile insurance claims process relative to 2009, but an increase from 2008 levels, reports.

According to the study, the main reason for the decrease in overall satisfaction is that many individuals received settlements that they considered inequitable or unfair. Repair times have also increased since 2009 by just under half a day.

The best-ranked auto insurers were Auto-Owners Insurers, Amica Mutual, The Hartford, Erie Insurance and American Family, which ranked in the top five, with Amica and Hartford tying for second place. Auto-Owners Insurance made first place for the third year in a row.

Satisfaction with auto insurance claims may be very important to owners with a bad credit history, since it may be substantially more difficult for them to shop around for a comprehensive policy that would also provide them with affordable premiums. By researching which insurers receive the most positive customer feedback, car owners with bad credit history can potentially choose a plan better suited to their needs.
