Hyundai, Kia perform well in reliability survey

They may not be the flashiest vehicles on the road, but it’s hard to argue with data. For drivers who simply want to get from point A to point B, Hyundais and Kias are some of the most reliable cars on the road.

Hyundai was formerly the go-to brand for drivers on a budget, but the automaker has turned its attention to offering luxury options like the Equus and Genesis. Instead, it has let the Kia label handle some of the more affordable options.

That’s good news, as Kias are some of the best cars for bad credit drivers today. In Consumer Report’s Annual Auto Survey, both Hyundai and Kia performed exceedingly well. In fact, only one model – the Kia Sedona – was rated as “below average” in reliability. All the other models were average or better.

This included the six new models that the South Korean automakers debuted this year: the Soul, Sorento and Forte for Kia and the Genesis Coupe, Sonata and Tucson for Hyundai. Consumer Reports called this “impressive,” as many new models don’t do well in the survey as the kinks still need to be ironed out.

Drivers who choose Kia will like the fact that they’ll most likely be paying less than $15,000 for their vehicle. In reality, they’ll save even more, because the reliability data indicates that they won’t have to be bringing the car in for repairs too often.
