The nominees for the Car and Truck of the Year are in, but drivers with low credit scores are most likely wondering which models are the best cars for bad credit buyers.
A number of luxury cars made the list that are out of many drivers’ price range. Yet there were a few options that those on a budget could easily consider.
The Mazda2 is a prime example. Named to the shortlist of 13 car models, the Mazda2 subcompact has won admirers for its sporty performance, great fuel economy and affordable price range. The 1.5-liter engine hits 100 horsepower with 98 pound-feet of torque, which is enough pep to put it above several competitors in the class. Yet the smaller engine allows the vehicle to attain 29 miles per gallon in the city with 35 on the highway.
Drivers will save plenty at the pump, but they’ll also like the car’s affordable $14,180 starting price tag. That price buys drivers a number of modern amenities like power windows, locks and air conditioning – features that aren’t standard on many cars that boast a lower price tag.
It might surprise drivers with bad credit that they could buy a car that could potentially be named the Car of the Year – but the Mazda2 makes that a reality.
